Major concepts in Mobile Interaction Design.

Interaction Design (ID)

Interaction design aims to define and facilitate interaction between human beings by means of a product or a service. It focuses on the possibilities to create and encourage behavior facilitating an exchange between people.

Interaction design is the task of enabling interaction between systems and humans to exchange  information, expressions and ideas with each other. Interaction design is the template that will enable the the input, exchange and the output of data.So Interaction Design facilitate the interaction of humans through a  product or service. 

Human-Computer Interaction(HCI)

HCI (human-computer interaction) is the study of how people interact with computers and to what extent computers are or are not developed for successful interaction with human beings.

Human Computer Interaction enables humans to interact with computers or any other communication device effectively.Also it will examine how effectively the devices are designed to interact with humans to capture human needs and to absorb the input data correctly according to user need. So it will examine whether the device interfaces are effective enough to   utilize the human needs via its functionality and how far it is successful.

HCI Models:

Foley(1980)

• The Conceptual level understanding of the user's mental model of the HCI task. Users may have different mental images of the HCI task.

• The semantic level understanding includes the meaning of the user's input to the computer and the computer's output to the user. The input-output feedback loop between user and system only works effectively if the computer understands the user's input and the user understands the system's output.

• The syntactic level, there is an understanding of how the words used are assembled into meaningful sentences that instruct the computer to perform a certain task.

• The lexical level includes understanding user's mechanisms when structuring their interaction with the computer. A user's interaction with a computer is structured by the person who developed the interface. If the interface does not allow the user to structure their interaction in a user friendly way, the system interaction may not be satisfactory.

User Centred Design(UCD)

"User-centered design (UCD) is an approach to design that grounds the process in information about the people who will use the product"- Usability Professionals Association.

In another way user centred design is a method or a process to achieve better user experience by Understanding users and embedding their needs into the development process to enhance the user experience.

User Experience (UX).

The user experience considers the wider relationship between the product and the user in order to investigate the individual’s personal experience of using it.

In a more descriptive way user experience is the way how the user feels when using a product or service and the level of satisfaction  they will express in relation to usage of the product or the service.

user experience can be determined using different measurements such as,

2. branding
3. functionality
4. content
